본 연구는 일 농촌지역 거주 여성결혼 이주자 자녀의 성장과 발달 수준을 평가하고, 이에 영향을 미치는 요인을 확인함으로써 이들의 성장과 발달 증진을 위한 간호중재 프로그램 개발 시 기초자료로 활용하고자 실시한 서술적 조사연구이다.여성결혼 이주자 자녀의 신체성장과 발당수준을 분석한 결과,체중은 10.8%, 신장은 13.0%, 머리둘레는 5.4%에서 3백분위수 미만으로 비정상 신체성장 분포를 보였고, 한국형 Denver-II 발달 스크리닝 검사 결과 의심스런 발달이 18.5%이었으며, 주의 혹은 지연항목을 나타낸 아동은 언어영역에서 12.0%로 가장 높은 분포를 나타내었다. 아울러 어머니의 한국어반 수준과 어머니의 체중이 아동의 신장 및 두위와 관련이 있는 것으로 나타났다.이상의 결과를 통해 일 농촌지역 여성결혼이주자 자녀의 신체성장과 발달수준은 내국인에 비해 매우 저조한 수준에 있다고 결론지을 수 있으며, 이들 인구집단의 발달 지연을 조기에 발견하기 위해 주기적인 성장발달 스크리닝의 필요성을 확인할 수 있었다. 아울러 이들 인구집단의 신체성장과 발달을 지원하기 위한 조기 중재프로그램의 개발과 국가적 차원의 적극적인 대책 마련이 시급하다고 생각된다.본 연구 결과를 토대로 다음과 같은 제언을 하고자 한다.첫째, 여성결혼 이주자 자녀의 신체성장과 발달 양상을 확인하기 위해 종단적 연구를 실시할 것을 제언한다.둘째, 인종의 차이에 따른 유전적 요인, 물리적, 사회적, 심리적 환경을 포함하여 여성결혼 이주자 자녀의 신체성장과 발달에 영향을 미치는 요인을 규명하는 후속 연구를 제언한다.셋째, 여성결혼 이주자 자녀의 신체성장과 발달을 증진시킬수 있는 간호중재 프로그램을 개발하고 그 효과를 검증하는 후속연구의 필요성을 제언한다.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the physical growth and developmental status of infants and children of married immigrant women.
Methods: The participants were 92 infants and children aged from birth to 6 yr whose mothers were married immigrant women living in one rural area. Physical growth and developmental status were evaluated by using anthropometric assessment, and Korean Denver II developmental screening test.
Results: Of the participants, 10.8% were below the 3rd percentile for weight, 13.0% for length, 5.4% for head circumference, and from 69.6% to 79.3% were distributed below the 50th percentile on growth charts. Further, 18.5% were classified as having questionable development. Factors related to low physical growth in infants and children were mother’s weight and mother’s level in Korean language classes.
Conclusion: The physical growth and developmental status of children is vulnerable and serious. The study results suggest a need for regular growth and developmental evaluations. Political support is important for these mothers. In addition, there also is a need to develop early intervention strategies to promote growth and development of the infants and children of these married immigrant women.
